3 Ways To Improve Your Self-Belief

Self esteem describes how we feel about ourselves. Our self esteem or sense of self worth is normally based on our perception of our abilities and how we believe other people accept and value us as individuals. We automatically find ourselves accepting those beliefs and they feel like 'reality' to us.

To be successful in goal setting you need to do more than just plan and write down your goals. You need to change your mindset and challenge some of the biggest fears that you have, and equally as important, develop your own self-belief. Goal setting can help you achieve success and happiness in your life. Remember, success in life is determined by your self-concept. You should therefore do everything in your power to improve your positive feelings about yourself while holding on to your humility.

Here are some proven ways to increase your self esteem:

- How do you feel about yourself?
Self-belief is how you feel about yourself. Self-esteem is determined by your internal feelings and evaluation of yourself based on your "perceived" self-image. If you are constantly comparing yourself to others and feel like you don't measure up, your self-esteem suffers. In this life, you have the ability to change whatever negative self-image you have.

Also, learning appreciation and gratitude is a sure-fire way to make you feel good. Acknowledge all your good qualities. Take some time to write down as many as you can. Read them over and over and feel the positive energy grow in you. Be grateful for the value of what you are gifted with. Reward yourself with whatever you feel you deserve.

- Success has to come from strength
Everyone has his or her own strengths including you. Your strengths have passions because they are the ones you must develop. Examine positions where you can apply your abilities and then get trained for them. Dream more about what you want to accomplish and set a goal to achieve it. You can accomplish what you focus. In order to develop your self-esteem, you must love who you are, while acknowledging that your personal, and unique qualities are a valuable contribution to humanity. Know that people who believe to be better off also despite what you may see. Start to think more positively and circumstances around you will become more positive and this in turn will improve your self esteem.

- Growth
You must grow. Universal law mandates this. While you are reading this article stars are exploding, water is creating new lakes and streams and brand new babies are entering this wonderful world every single minute of the day! Our world continues to expand and grow and you are a part of this growth. Stay away from people you feel criticize you and make you feel inadequate and worthless.

Improving and developing your self-belief is the best first step you can take on building the new you. Understand and accept these concepts and you are on the road to building your self-belief. Positive, positive, positive is the answer. Create positive thoughts toward your unconditional worth and unconditional love.

How Keeping a Journal Influences Your Health

Journaling isn't just for teens anymore. Science has shown that keeping a daily log of your day has a lot more benefits to it than merely creating a place to dump your deepest thoughts in private.

You don’t need to be a writer or even want to become one to start journaling, but you might just want to run out and buy a cute notebook after you read these benefits journaling can have for you.

Beneficial reasons to start journaling, if you aren't already...

  • Boosts creativity
It’s one of the more obvious benefits, but you’ll find that you become more creative when you just let it flow in your journal. It’s a stream of consciousness process that allows you to go where your mind takes you, and much like dreams, that’s pretty exciting.

  • Restores mindfulness
Happiness is directly linked to mindfulness. When you’re writing in your journal, your frustrations and anxieties ebb away, and you’re left to unite with your thoughts completely.  Sometimes simply having a place to dump all of your feelings, disappointments and thoughts also gives you a way to let them out and walk away from them.  This release helps you to feel your feelings, sort through them via pen and paper, and move along in a healthy manner.  It's quite powerful.

  • Brings you closer to achieving goals
When we journal, we often write about the things we wish we could accomplish. That café we dream of opening or that dream vacation we've had on our minds for years. No matter what it is, writing it down helps your brain focus on those goals and find ways to bring it to fruition. Essentially, it means you’re more likely to achieve those goals if you simply write about them first.

  • Improved memory
Writing things down not only serves to prevent you from forgetting them but using a pen and paper forces your brain to engage with it cognitively. That means even when you’re not writing something down in the moment, like say at a social event when a new contact tells you their name, you won’t space out and forget it if you journal.

  • Better communication skills
Keeping a journal is a way to help vocalize your thoughts. Interestingly though, it also benefits the way you speak, since it naturally forces you to build your vocabulary and put your thoughts in order. You’ll find that when you’re out in the world engaging with others, your journaling will have served you well for this purpose.

Do you keep a journal?

Delicious Drinks for that Hot Summer Day

One of the best ways to beat the heat this summer is with a refreshingly tasty beverage in hand. Pure water is, of course, the drink of choice and should regularly be consumed to avoid dehydration.  By adding a squeeze of fresh lemon to your water, you can pack even more of a beneficial punch.

But on those occasions you want a little something extra, or you’re looking for the perfect summer beverage to serve at your weekend gathering, there are some delightfully refreshing options to choose from.  Whether you want to add a dash of rum into your drink or leave it kid-friendly, these drink options are sure to please (and are oh-so-easy to make)

Here are my favorite soothing summer beverages that you can enjoy with or without alcohol for more summer sunshine in your glass with no guilt:

Cheery Cherry
  • 1 cup organic cherry juice
  • ¾ cup organic orange juice
  • ¼ cup cold filtered water
  • Fresh orange slices
  • Alcohol option: 2 ounces of vodka

Combine all ingredients in a pitcher. Fill glasses with ice and pour the drink mixture in. Garnish with the orange slices.

Passionate Pineapple Punch
  • 1 cup organic passion fruit juice
  • 1 cup organic pineapple juice
  • ¼ cup fresh-squeezed lime juice
  • ¼ cup coconut water
  • Lime seltzer to taste
  • Lime wheels for garnish
  • Alcohol option: 3 ounces of rum (note: you can use a flavored rum like coconut, mango, or anything else you desire)

Mix everything except the seltzer together in a pitcher. Fill your glasses with ice and pour the contents of the pitcher in. Top off each glass with the seltzer. Add a lime wheel garnish.

Watermelon Wave
  • 4 cups of watermelon chunks
  • 6 to 8 large basil leaves
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon white wine vinegar
  • 1 quart chilled water
  • Alcohol option: 6 ounces of vodka (regular or watermelon)

Puree the watermelon in your food processor or blender. Season with salt and vinegar, then strain into a pitcher. Add the chilled water (and vodka if you’re using it). Add the basil leaves and stir in.

Citrus Sangria
And finally, we’ll end with one just for the adults. Sangria is a true summer delight, especially this citrusy version!

  • 1 bottle (750 mL) chilled medium-dry red wine (like a Malbec or Rioja)
  • 2 cups chilled lime seltzer
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 limes, sliced
  • 2 lemons, sliced
  • 2 oranges, sliced

The hardest part about this drink recipe is waiting! You combine everything into one large pitcher, cover it and chill it until it’s time to serve.

Don't forget to consume a glass of water regularly throughout the day to avoid dehydration in the summer heat.  Eating a lot of water-filled foods can help, too, such as watermelon, cucumbers, celery, etc.

What are your favorite summer pastimes?
